‘Blue Bloods’ Star Tom Selleck Reveals Major Career Update

We’re still recovering from last year’s announcement that Blue Bloods is officially cancelled. While a spinoff series of the show is in the works, longtime cast member Tom Selleck isn’t planning to return, but he also isn’t leaving showbiz any time soon.

Known for his role as New York’s police commissioner on Blue Bloods, Selleck is moving on after his 14-season run on the CBS drama and returning to film. With no plans to retire soon, the actor is officially taking on a new installment of the Jesse Stone franchise. While the status of the unnamed film says that project is still in development, it certainly gives Selleck fans something to look forward to.

The Jesse Stone movie franchise is based on the detective novels written by Michael Brandman and Robert Parker. Selleck will once again be returning as the lead character—a former minor league baseball shortstop and police chief who struggles with addiction and keeping the small town of Paradise, Massachusetts, free from crime.

According to IMDb page, the film is being produced by the Hallmark Channel and will be the tenth in the film’s franchise. With the last Jesse Stone installment titled Lost in Paradise being released back in 2015, this will be the longest stint between the franchise films. The IMDb story line of the untitled project reads, “Paradise Police Chief Jesse Stone is experiencing a familiar ennui-writing parking tickets and bemoaning his presence in a small town where “nothing much” ever seems to happen. Suddenly Jesse is swept up in the exigencies of making sense of an unexplained death – was it a suicide or, as Jesse suspects, a murder?”

In an interview with Parade, Selleck also hinted that he’d be 100% open to working with Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan which we would happily support. “A good Western’s always on my list,” he said. “I miss that; I want to sit on a horse again.”

When asked if he’d be in favor of a Blue Bloods spinoff (like the one Donnie Wahlberg is starring in), this is what the actor had to say: “I’m open to suggestions because I love Frank Reagan, but nobody’s really asked. I don’t see him retiring and going off somewhere. If he goes off to a small town, I’d rather do more Jesse Stone movies.”

Well, looks like his wish is coming true and we truly can’t wait for more details on Selleck’s new project.
