But proving she’s not so familiar with a hatchet, Jennifer Lawrence fell short as she took on Jimmy Fallon during a daring axe-throwing contest on Tuesday night’s airing of The Tonight Show.
The actress, 27, went head-to-head with the show host in the challenge that saw them throwing axes at a target in order to score points.
Jimmy started things off with a toe curling shot right between the legs, the effigy almost breathing a sigh of relief as it stuck pointlessly millimeters beneath the groin.
But spurning Fallon’s one handed approach, Jen instead opted for an unusual two-handed grip – but to no avail.

She failed to strike the board, with her frustration only building as Jimmy secured himself the win by landing his axe on the target’s head.
Storming around the set, Jennifer amusingly was left screaming in dismay, angrily pulling out Jimmy’s winning axe and repeatedly hitting the target’s head with it – making sure to win a laugh from the studio audience.
Despite her challenge fail, the Silver Linings Playbook star was definitely a hit on the sartorial front.
She looked sensational for her appearance on the Tonight Show and stepped out on set clad in a sexy sequinned black suit.

It tells the story of a young woman (Lawrence) and her husband (Bardem), whose tranquil life at their remote country home is challenged by an unnamed couple (Harris and Pfeiffer) who arrive and lodge with them.
Jennifer’s appearance on the Tonight Show comes after she had attended Venice Film Festival with her beau Aronofsky to promote their new release.
The couple embarked on a relationship privately in September 2016 after filming for Mother! had wrapped and while she is famously tight-lipped about her romantic life, Jennifer recently opened up about her romance with the director in an interview with US Vogue.

Speaking about their new horror film to the magazine, the actress admitted she could not believe his ‘brilliance’ on set, before gushing about him as a boyfriend.
She said: ‘When I saw the movie, I was reminded all over again how brilliant he is. For the past year, I’ve been dealing with him as just a human.’
Before adding sweetly of their romance: ‘I’ve been in relationships before where I am just confused. And I’m never confused with him.
