Travis Kelce felt ‘sick to my stomach’ after Kansas City Chiefs loss to Denver Broncos and said his own performance was ‘EMBARRASSING’: ‘My teammates don’t deserve that out of me’

Following a performance in the Mile High City that was miles below par, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce lamented last week’s result against the Denver Broncos.

In the latest episode of his ‘New Heights’ podcast that he puts out weekly with his brother – Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce – Travis expressed disappointment in his team’s 24-9 loss to the Broncos in frigid Colorado on Sunday.

All that Kelce could begin with was, ‘F**k that’s embarrassing man’. After all, this same Chiefs team beat these Broncos at home just weeks ago.

Kelce directed blame internally toward the offense’s uncharacteristic struggles in recent weeks.

‘I don’t think I’ve been in a situation where we’ve stalled this much as an offense throughout the year, definitely at this point in the season,’ Kelce admitted.

Travis Kelce did not hold back in his assessment of the Kansas City Chiefs’ performances

He was honest on the latest episode of his New Heights podcast: ‘F**k that’s embarrassing’

‘We got a lot of guys that usually figure out how to get this thing going, and it’s just frustrating, man.

‘Not putting up touchdowns week after week after week is getting old. It’s getting old to watch, I know it, Chiefs kingdom, I know it is.

‘It’s not like what we’ve been in the past. In my mind, we’ve got the best offensive mind in the game, we got the best quarterback, so it’s unacceptable.’

Kansas City has consistently been one of the best offenses in the NFL for the past five seasons.

Between the 2018 and 2022 seasons, they’ve finished in the top five of both total offense and scoring offense four times. They’ve claimed the top spot in total offense three times and in scoring offense twice.

Cut to this season: where Kansas City is fourth in total offense – but a dismal 12th in scoring offense, a mark they haven’t hit since 2016, long before Patrick Mahomes was the Chiefs’ starting quarterback.

Kansas City has only managed to put up 30 points twice this season: first in a 41-10 demolition of the hapless Chicago Bears, then again in a game against the struggling Los Angeles Chargers.

It’s rare that Mahomes and Kansas City are held below 20 points, but that’s already happened three times: in a win over the Jaguars and in both games against Denver.

Kansas City was held to under 20 points for the third time this season in a 24-9 loss to Denver

Sunday was the first time in 16 contests that the Chiefs fell to the Broncos – who haven’t had the smoothest ride this season, punctuated by a 70-20 loss to the Miami Dolphins in Week 3.

Kelce believes this Denver team went into the game ‘a little more hungry’ and with ‘a lot more energy’ which is eating at him.

‘Felt awkward during the game, like we couldn’t get anything going,’ Kelce said. ‘You’re talking about that sense of urgency on the sideline, it didn’t feel like we had too much of that.

‘And when we finally had that sense of urgency, turned the ball over and get it ripped right out of our hearts.

‘Our defense is playing their tail off, man. For us to keep turning it over, putting them in bad situations and then saving our tail, it’s getting real one-sided.’

Kelce didn’t perform up to his usual standard, catching the ball for 58 yards – his lowest total since coming back from an injury in Week 2.

Kelce only had 58 receiving yards – his lowest total since returning from injury in Week 2

‘That was a pretty embarrassing game,’ Kelce said. ‘At least for myself, speaking, my coaches and my teammates don’t deserve that out of me, for sure.’

Now the team’s attention shifts to the aforementioned Dolphins – a game that will require them to hop across the pond to Frankfurt in Germany.

‘Don’t think we’re not in this thing feeling the urgency,’ Kelce said. ‘We just got to go out there and freaking do it. It starts with not killing ourselves, man. Just daggers.

‘Just guys running the wrong routes, guys not making blocks, guys dropping the football. It’s frustrating and it’s a challenge.

‘It’s a challenge at this point in the season to get this thing right right now before it gets out of control and it gets really bad.’

Now, Kelce and the Chiefs turn their attention to playing the Dolphins over in Germany

Much like last week, Kelce’s pop star girlfriend Taylor Swift will not be in attendance

He added: ‘This is a point in the season that’s either going to make us feel and be the team we think we are or it’s going to get even tougher. … We got to get this thing fixed right now.’

Much like last week in Denver, Travis’s superstar girlfriend – Taylor Swift – will be making the trip to Germany to watch the Chiefs play.

She’s currently in South America preparing for the final chapter of her Eras Tour for the year 2023.

The tour will resume next year, but not before she plays three three-night shows in Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro, and Sao Paulo.
