Seething Daniel Ricciardo launches X-rated tirade in team radio message after DRS problem in Sao Paulo

Australian F1 star Daniel Ricciardo has exploded in an expletive-filled tirade after a frustrating race where he failed to finish within the points during the Sao Paulo sprint race at the Brazil Grand Prix on Sunday morning.

After crossing the line in ninth, agonisingly close to championship points, Ricciardo spent half of his cooldown lap in silence before blowing up over team radio.

‘F**k,’ he said. ‘F**k, f**k, f**k, f**k. Sorry guys.’

‘That f**king DRS in Turn 2. You pass in 1 and you just get f****d. It’s impossible.

‘Anyway, I’ll shut up. Sorry guys.’

Daniel Ricciardo has exploded in an extraordinary manner following a frustrating sprint race at the Brazil Grand Prix on Sunday morning

Ricciardo finished the race in 9th position, just outside the points

After the Aussie had calmed down after the race, Ricciardo explained that the DRS (drag reduction system) was hampering him.

‘The DRS line, the second detection line is…every time I pass in Turn 1, I basically wave him back pass for Turn 4 for so that was extremely frustrating,’ Ricciardo said.

‘But I didn’t really feel I could do much more because obviously trying to pass someone but I never got rewarded.

‘Fighting and getting in a battle for quite a few laps then allowed Oscar and I think a couple others behind us to start closing in.

I left the door open in [turn] 8 so that’s my fault. Let Oscar by and we lost a few tenths behind him.

‘Got him back, caught Carlos again and then a lap to go we were out on our arse.’

The Aussie will have his work cut out for him in Monday morning’s GP, starting the race from P17 .

Max Verstappen comfortably won his fourth sprint race of the year to extend his lead at the top of the standings.

Ricciardo apologised to his teammates for his expletive-filled tirade over radio

The three-time world champion, who starts in pole position for tomorrow’s race in São Paulo, came from second to overtake Lando Norris.

Verstappen’s Red Bull partner Sergio Perez came in third, while Mercedes driver George Russell clinched the fourth position.

Yuki Tsunoda had an excellent race over 24 laps to finish sixth, one spot behind Charles Leclerc, while Lewis Hamilton and Carlos Sainz finished seventh and eighth.
