There are times when life is extremely difficult for our furry friends. They may experience some extremely trying times that leave them broken-hearted, overcome with sadness, and completely terrified of the people who let them down. Gia, a sweet dog, was forced to face a heartbreaking reality. She was treated horribly by her “family” and is now seeking refuge in a shelter, trying to recover from the trauma.

Every time someone got close, her body started shaking. She couldn’t handle being touched; fear made her pee, and she stayed frozen in place.

This person, who was supposed to love her, tied her to a tree and treated her terribly. Gia’s heart broke, and the happiness she once had disappeared. She needed more help than the shelter could provide. Luckily, a special group called DallasDogRRR stepped in to help dogs like Gia. With love, patience, and kindness, they want to help her and heal her.

It’s hard for her to trust people again, but the volunteers are hopeful. Interestingly, Gia enjoys playing with her shelter friends because she knows they won’t harm her. Step by step, she’s learning to trust again and finding her own happiness. She’ll live with a new family and other dogs. They truly hope that Gia will learn that she’s finally safe and loved. ‎“Gia is home. She has not moved from the box that was used to transport her. She’s very afraid, she doesn’t tremble anymore, though, but she’s still not ready to move from that place. However, her ears are alert with the sound of my little puppy Austin, so I hope he can attract her,” shared the caretaker.
