Oscar Piastri’s mum Nicole gave a cheeky response after F1 fans joked Fernando Alonso is the Aussie’s ‘dad’.
Piastri has enjoyed a terrific rookie season in F1 as he, alongside McLaren team-mate Lando Norris, have driven the team forward over the second half of the season, seeing him even win the sprint race in Qatar.
The 22-year-old has massively impressed in his short F1 career and ahead of the Brazil Grand Prix he posted a picture of him swapping helmets with Alonso, 42, alongside a picture of him racing in the two-time world champion’s kart.
F1 fans lost their mind at the show of respect between two of the sport’s most popular drivers, but one fan’s comment saw Piastri’s mum, who is usually very active on Twitter, respond.
The comment aimed at Piastri and Alonso said: “The goat father and the goat son”, with two goat emojis. Nicole replied to the comment saying: “Pretty sure I would’ve remembered that…” seeing fans lapping up her response.

One comment said “Mrs Piastri the true MOTHER of the F1 grid”, and a second wrote: “OMG best answer.” While a third posted a GIF of Alonso turning around in a chair and winking at the camera.
Piastri and Alonso entered the weekend in contrasting form after McLaren overtook Aston Martin in the constructors’ championship following an incredible resurgence from the papaya side in recent weeks.

But it was certainly a Friday to remember for Aston Martin as Lance Stroll qualified in P3 and Alonso in P4 in a weather-impacted Q3 session, seeing them outqualify both McLarens – with Norris starting in P7 and Piastri in P10 for Sunday’s Grand Prix.
Despite his age and Aston Martin’s decline over the recent race weekends, Alonso was previously rumoured to take Sergio Perez’s seat at Red Bull. However, Alonso revealed he was not amused with the murmurs, stating he was not happy at the “the normal paddock rumours”. Adding he “will make sure there are consequences,” for people he said are just “trying to gain some followers”.
