Photos of Taylor Swift and Brittany Mahomes are being ridiculed online, with fans stepping in to defend the pop star and her new pal.
The pair were first spotted hanging out together at the Kansas City Chiefs vs Los Angeles Chargers game on October 22. Swift was there to cheer on her rumored boyfriend—Chiefs’ tight end Travis Kelce—while Brittany Mahomes was supporting her husband, Chiefs’ quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
The duo were seen dancing together, along with the Mahomes’ infant son Patrick “Bronze” Lavon Mahomes III. They even invented a secret handshake that was later parodied by Jimmy Kimmel on his talk show, Jimmy Kimmel Live!

However, the women’s budding friendship sparked backlash, with Swift accused of “ruining” football with her presence at Kelce’s games and taking attention away from the sport.
After Mahomes shared snaps of her night out with Swift, Lyndsay Bell and Paige Buechele—who are married to Chiefs’ tight end Blake Bell and former quarterback Shane Buechele—to Instagram on November 7, trolls used the photos as another opportunity to troll them.
“So much mid in this picture,” said X user SC12.
“I look better than all of them,” declared @ayleebubbles.
“They are all so happy because they are rich…trust me,” wrote Lara.
However, others defended Swift and Mahomes, with Lord Jay calling the photos “beautiful.”

“Cute pictures,” agreed Cloudie. “All these amazing women.”
“They can make the whole place SHIMMER,” said miztree.
“This is going to p*** so many people off, and I’m here for it,” wrote brianjensor.
“The things I’d do to go for a drink [with] this group,” said amandalopxs, while @mackenzie_nelson commented: “I literally could not dream up anything cooler.”
Newsweek has reached out to Taylor Swift and Brittany Mahomes for comment via email and Instagram.
Unfortunately, Mahomes is used to dealing with trolls online. The 28-year-old soccer star is regularly targeted on social media, with bullies attacking everything from her fashion choices to her Instagram captions.
However, the mom-of-two no longer lets the abuse get her down. In an Instagram Q&A on August 23, a fan asked Mahomes: “Does it bother you when people continue to talk s*** about you? Team Britt always!”
In response, the Texas native said: “It used to yes. But not anymore. I could give two s**** about people’s opinion of me that don’t even know me.”
Like Mahomes, Swift also often finds herself the focus of cruel comments online. Since publicly supporting progressive causes—such as LGBTQ rights and feminism—the 33-year-old singer has been particularly targeted by conservatives, and has even been accused of promoting witchcraft and Satanism by conspiracy theorists.
