The German has been speaking to NZZ regarding his life as a pundit covering football for various media outlets, and the potential issues that causes.

One of the biggest is an apparent falling out with Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, who called out his compatriot last year after comments about the Reds.

Klopp was asked about comments from Hamann in a press conference and did not hold back in his response, essentially labelling the former midfielder as a poor source who is not respected, insisting he had no right to say anything about his team and “has no idea”.

The clip naturally went viral, with many Liverpool fans sharing the clip and praising their manager for ‘destroying’ the pundit.

There’s since been something of a back and forth on the matter, with some claims that the pundit is in something of a feud with the Liverpool manager.

He insisted earlier this month that wasn’t the case but has now admitted he could have done without Klopp making his previous comments.

“I could have done without him saying I was a fantastic source and had no idea anyway,” he said.

“I didn’t do the Becker fist at home. The coaches are under a lot of pressure, and it is normal for them to defend themselves, the players and the club.

“For me it’s always about the cause, never about anything personal.”
