The group set a record for being nominated and winning on music shows the fastest. After only 13 days of release, BlackPink won 1st place on the Inkigayo program. Continuously ranking first on the charts, partly shows the group’s popularity when they first debuted, which can be said to have spread throughout Asia.

BlackPink’s other awards include winning the New Artist of the Year category at the 31st Golden Disc Awards and 26th Seoul Music Awards, and the Mnet Asian Music Awards for Best Girl Group. In 2020, the first K-pop girl group won the MTV Video Music Award, and was recognized as the first Korean girl group to be on Forbes magazine’s list of 30 best faces under 30 years old .

BlackPink was recognized by Forbes Korea magazine as one of the most famous and powerful people in Korea, and was introduced by former Korean President Moon Jae-in as a global K-pop phenomenon that helps promote K-pop culture . out to the whole world.

AKB48

A Japanese girl group founded by Akimoto Yasushi in 2005, described as a social phenomenon. AKB48 currently holds the Guinness record for “Pop group with the largest number of members” with 200 members.

This is also one of the highest-grossing music groups in the world, with record sales of over 211 million USD in 2011 and 226 million USD in 2012 in Japan.

As of 2018, AKB48 became the girl group with record sales: 56 million copies sold, according to Oricon. The group’s best-selling single is Teacher, Teacher, which sold more than 3 million copies in 2018 according to Billboard/Soundscan.

In 2010, the songs Beginner and Heavy Rotation ranked first and second respectively on the list of Japan’s best-selling singles of the year; while in 2011, 5 of the group’s singles occupied the top 5 positions of the annual Oricon Singles Chart.

As of April 2019, the group sold more than 60 million records, including 6 million albums. According to Oricon’s rankings, AKB48 holds the record for the number of singles sold in Japan by a girl group, AKB48 ranks 5th in the list of best-selling girl groups worldwide.

EXID

The Korean girl group was founded in 2012 with 5 members: Solji, LE, Hani, Hyelin and Jeonghwa.

The group officially debuted with a 6-member lineup including Dami, Yuji, LE, Hani, Haeryeong and Jeonghwa on February 16, 2012 with their debut digital single Holla .

Two months later, Dami, Yuji, and Haeryung left the group and were replaced by Solji and Hyerin. With a 5-member lineup, the group released their debut EP Hippity Hop in August 2012.

EXID group

EXID became famous when member Hani’s fancam (video made by fans) became known to many audiences, leading to the single Up&Down (2014) suddenly rising to number one on Gaon’s singles chart. 4 months after release.

Sistar

The Korean girl group consists of 4 members, under the management of Starship Entertainment, and is built as a girl full of personality and strength.

T-ara

T-ara is a famous group at the same time as Girls’ Generation. Debuting in 2009, under the management of MBK Entertainment, T-ara chose a style that is both cute and strong with catchy music that makes listeners addicted.

The group was initially formed with 5 members and released their first song Good Person from the movie Cinderella Man .

Two months later, two members left the group and around the same time, the group had three new members join, officially operating with 6 members.

The songs that brought the group great success were Roly-Poly and Lovey-Dovey , helping T-ara bring in millions of dollars in revenue. The group was established a long time ago so it is known by many international friends. The group’s fans have been with them through ups and downs in the past.

In 2012, T-ara came to Hanoi to perform at the  K-pop Festival. In the following years, the group returned to participate in tourism promotion programs as well as concerts in Vietnam.  Currently, T-ara has 4 members including Qri, Eunjung, Hyomin, Jiyeon, working as a free music group.

Girls’ Generation

Girls’ Generation is certainly not unfamiliar to many people. This is a famous girl group in Korea, founded in 2007 with 9 members, whose management company is SM Entertainment – the most powerful entertainment company in Korea.

When Girls’ Generation’s songs were released to the market, they immediately attracted many young people around the world with their catchy and cute melodies.

SING is a Chinese girl group, also known as SING Girls, Super Impassoned Net Generation or Starry Girls Group. The group debuted under the name KuGou Music in August 2015.

The SING group often incorporates traditional Chinese instruments in their songs, as well as wearing traditional Chinese clothing.

The group currently includes 8 members: Qin Yu, Wu Yao, Xu Shiyin, Bian Li, Chen Li, Lin Hui, Jiang Shen and Lai Meiyun. Three members Cai Sha, Lin Jinyi, and Gong Tianying left the group for various reasons.

This girl group often incorporates traditional Chinese instruments in their songs, as well as wearing traditional Chinese costumes in their music videos.
