Al-Nassr defender Alex Telles has expressed gratitude following his debut goal in the Saudi Pro League on Saturday night.
In a commanding victory against Al Wehda at King Abdul Aziz Stadium, the former Manchester United defender showcased his prowess with a remarkable free-kick, marking his presence in the Saudi top flight.
Despite not being the designated first-choice for free-kicks, Telles surprised viewers by taking matters into his own hands, surpassing the usual contenders Cristiano Ronaldo and Anderson Talisca, who typically handle such situations for Luis Castro’s team.
Both Ronaldo and Talisca willingly yielded the opportunity, paving the way for the Brazilian left-back to take the shot, resulting in a spectacular outcome.
Telles, at 30 years old, executed a flawlessly struck free-kick that promptly found the back of the net, breaking the deadlock for Al-Nassr, as reported by Fan Nation.
His goal served as inspiration for the team, leading to additional goals by Abdulelah Al Amri and Ronaldo.
Despite a consolation goal by experienced Brazilian midfielder Anselmo Anselmo, it proved inconsequential as Al-Nassr held firm, securing a decisive victory and claiming all three points at stake.
Telles thanks Ronaldo, Talisca
In his post post-match interview Telles, who was once teammates with Ronaldo at Manchester United, extended his heartfelt gratitude to CR7 and his compatriot Talisca for their roles in his maiden goal in the SPL.
“I thank Talisca and Ronaldo for giving me the opportunity to shoot the free kick,” he said, as quoted by The Nassr Zone.
