Luiz Diaz’s partner posts an image with the Liverpool star and their daughter following his knee operation

Luis Diaz‘s partner Gera Ponce has shared an update from the Liverpool ace’s hospital bed after his knee surgery.

The 25-year-old Colombian has been missing from action since October, and faces a further three months out after going under the knife.

Diaz was hopeful of a comeback this week, but complained of a serious issue before Liverpool’s game against Lyon in Dubai, and flew back to England for surgery on his lateral collateral ligament.

Ponce shared pictures of Diaz and their one-year-old daughter Roma in the hospital after his procedure on her Instagram Story.

The caption read: ‘Sometimes the difficulties that occur in our life directly prepare us to take an extraordinary path.

‘Now patience and strength are essential. But, above all, the love of the family.

‘We are all here for you, the same as always. And we will see you rise stronger, we love you.’

Diaz and Ponce are thought to have been in a relationship since 2016, having met as teenagers, and welcomed their first child last November.

Diaz joined Liverpool early in 2022 for £37.5million, and he was hoping to get back into contention for the club’s busy festive period, before the latest setback.

Jurgen Klopp’s side face Manchester City in the League Cup on December 22, before league games against Aston Villa and Leicester City in the run up to the New Year.

Klopp described the latest injury update as a ‘smash in the face’, having not anticipated that they would receive such poor news.

The Reds will have to spend another another three months without the winger as they continue to fight on four fronts.
