Abel Tesfaye, better known as The Weeknd, has made one of the best real estate acquisitions in Los Angeles this year, investing a staggering $70 million in a stunning Bel Air home. The property was not initially for sale, but Dutch media entrepreneur Reinout Oerlemans and his wife Danielle Oerlemans decided to sell after Rayni and Branden Williams approached them about showing it to the music icon.
The mansion sits on approximately 1.6 acres and boasts an impressive 33,000 square feet of living space, featuring nine bedrooms, a sports court, a spa with a sauna and hammam, an indoor pool, an outdoor infinity pool with a waterfall, a movie theater, a gym, and even a music studio.
The interior of the mansion underwent a complete transformation during the Oerlemans’ three-year renovation, which they undertook after purchasing the property for $21.4 million in 2015. The previous decor was described as “horrendous,” but with the help of a favorite interior designer and contemporary furniture from around the world, the Oerlemans have turned it into a graceful and stunning space.
Reinout Oerlemans, with 25 years of experience in the media and entertainment sector, is known for starting his own production company, Eyeworks, which he later sold to Warner Bros. in 2014. The Weeknd’s spokesperson, Angel Salvador of Beverly Hills Estates, confirmed the acquisition.
This prestigious purchase comes as The Weeknd, who gained fame in the mid-2010s, continues to rise as a well-known artist, with hit songs like “Can’t Feel My Face” and “Blinding Lights.” With this luxurious Bel Air mansion, The Weeknd has solidified his place among the elite homeowners in Los Angeles.
