After cancelling Wonder Woman 3, James Gunn seeks to introduce a new face into the DCU to play the role of Diana Prince in the future.
It has been some time now, but some people still can’t believe that Henry Cavill is no more the face of Superman in the projects undertaken by DC Films. When James Gunn and Peter Safran took over, they decided to start from scratch, which we guess is now extending to Gal Gadot as well, since the upcoming Wonder Woman 3 was sacked by the company.
Gal Gadot in and as Wonder Woman
Thus, it was hypothesized that going forward in the new DCU, there will be no place for the superhero to make an appearance. Then again, since the original film proved to be a smashing success, the character couldn’t be left unutilized, which has brought in some new rumors that there will be a Wonder Woman, and this time, she will be someone new entirely.
DCU Is Looking For A Replacement For Gal Gadot As Wonder Woman

When the first film in the Wonder Woman series was released, people didn’t have high hopes for it, especially because it was the first major female superhero movie. But contrary to those expectations, Gal Gadot portraying the titular character turned into an overnight success, even going on to make Marvel Studios bow down in front of its greatness.
But Wonder Woman 1984 couldn’t bring the same magic as its predecessor, which is probably a contributing factor to James Gunn‘s decision to sack the third film in the series.
But it’s not as if the DCU can just leave one of the Holy Trinity of DC Comics unutilized, which is why they may be looking at a replacement to adhere to the complete renewal of the franchise. In a recent Reddit post made on r/DCEUleaks, there have been several verified, semi-verified, and many unverified reports that give us a hint on what we can expect in the coming time from DC Films.
Here, under the unverified section of reports, a rumor that was spreading in the industry was recalled by a user, who claims that the Peacemaker director was looking for a new face for Wonder Woman in the DCU in an untitled project. This news bolsters the decision that he and Safran took to relieve the Fast Five actress of her role as Diana Prince in the old franchise.
While we may have no official reports suggesting who will become the next Wonder Woman, it’ll be interesting to see the decision that the CEOs of DC Films make with the character moving forward.
Why Did Wonder Woman 1984 Fail?

With the first film becoming an icon in the comic book genre of films, people had high hopes for the sequel. Alas, Wonder Woman 1984 couldn’t live up to the hype.
While Gadot’s performance may have been on point, the film itself was too long, which wasn’t helping since it also felt stretched. Along with that, the main antagonist was not a good example of a well-developed villain, only made to look even underdeveloped when they decided to give them a backstory at the end. This poor iteration was a stark contrast to the amazing execution of the original.
