The faux fur market is brimming with new, innovative labels that understand the power of a good fake, so to speak. (We’ve also seen celebrities, such as Dua Lipa and Miley Cryus, flock to them.) One such emerging brands is Marei 1998, a Tel Aviv-based line founded by Israeli designer Maya Reik, which recently launched an entire capsule collection of faux-fur pieces titled “I Am Furless,” ranging from coats to bags and belts. Now Reik appears to be amassing a celebrity following for her work as well.
This week, the label caught the eye of Ariana Grande. Just yesterday, the “Imagine” singer was spotted on her way to perform on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon wearing one of Reik’s faux fur outerwear creations. She braved the crisp New York City air in Marei 1998’s black faux-fur trimmed Powderpuff velvet coat and styled it with a simple black strapless dress underneath. Grande accessorized the look with a black box bag and—what else!—her signature vampy thigh-high boots, these by Sergio Rossi.
