However Justin was the superstar most strongly linked to Hillsong and its steamy pastor Carl Lentz, whom he reportedly regarded as a father figure.

However Carl, who happens to be friends with Churchome’s Pastor Judah, found himself plunged into scandal in late 2020.

He experienced an operatic fall from grace after it emerged that he had been unfaithful to his wife Laura, and he was duly jettisoned from Hillsong.

At the start of the following year, Justin clarified that he was no longer a member of Hillsong and declared his allegiance to Churchome.
