Serena Williams after retiring from the sport has decided to try her hand at the film production business. She has recently launched a film production company, 926 Productions. She also appointed Caroline Currier as the President of the company.
Serena Williams has considerable experience in this line as she, along with her sisters Isha Price and former World No.1 Venus Williams, produced ‘King Richard‘. The film was based on the lives of her father Richard Williams and his upbringing of the champion daughters, Venus and Serena. It was released in 2021 and was nominated for six Academy Awards including best picture. Will Smith won the best actor award for this movie as he portrayed their father, Richard Williams.
Caroline Currier who has previously worked as the VP of Television for Eric Newman’s Grand Electric is going to oversee production and development aspects at the new studios. She will be working closely with the Williams sisters.
“With the launch of 926 Productions, we aim to elevate female and diverse voices through content that speaks to everyone. I’m so excited to begin this next chapter of my career alongside Caroline, a woman who understands the art of storytelling and is passionate about evolving the entertainment industry in new directions. I look forward to collaborating with her and developing unique projects that inspire audiences across all platforms,” Serena Williams said while announcing the launch of her new company.

Serena Williams is considered by many one of the greatest athletes of all time. The American has won more Grand Slam singles titles than any other player in the world, including both male and female tennis professionals. She has one more Major than both Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal and three more than Roger Federer.
She also enjoys a cult position in many places. However, her venture into films is something that has bewildered and somewhat excited her fans.
“926 Productions’ intentions are to bolster women and diverse individuals through four-quadrant storytelling that appeals to a broad range of age groups and genders,” the seven-time Australian Open champion said.
Meanwhile, many projects are already at different levels of development at the studios. However, the most ambitious is the ‘Copa 71‘. It tells the incredible story of the 1971 Women’s Football World Cup. In this project, along with Serena Williams, her elder sister Venus Williams and the new President of 926 Productions Caroline Currier have also been named executive producers.
