To have a muscular and muscular body at the age of 59, Amazon billionaire Jeff Bezos regularly gets enough sleep, exercises outdoors and eats healthy.
Once having a slim figure, Jeff Bezos has recently attracted attention because of his muscular and muscular body, different from the image of previous technology billionaires. He is one of the pioneers in the “muscular rich man” trend – the new symbol of success for the super rich.
Despite the habit of exercising together, Lauren Sanchez, Jeff Bezos’s fiancee, still has to admit she cannot keep up with the exercises he performs.
“He is on a completely different level than me, a ‘monster’ in the gym,” she said.
According to Body and Soul, Bezos’ body fat is about 12 to 14%. The ideal body fat percentage for men between 40 and 59 is 11-21%. Falling below this threshold can cause a gaunt appearance
Bezos is one of Silicon Valley’s rich men who is passionate about practicing jiu-jitsu and CrossFit, similar to Mark Zuckerberg, founder of Facebook.
According to Wes Okerson, Bezos’ personal trainer, when he exercises, he does low-impact, high-resistance exercises like rowing or lifting weights. The founder of Amazon also enjoys outdoor exercises such as kayaking or running on hills.
Besides exercising, the 59-year-old billionaire eats a high-protein diet, combined with foods containing healthy fats like avocados. As suggested by coach Okerson, he eats a combination of a keto diet, high in fat, moderate in protein and low in carbs.

In 2017, Bezos admitted he used to have an unhealthy diet, sometimes eating an entire box of Pillsbury cookies in a few hours. He started eating healthier after signing a contract with a food company and was inspired by healthy people.
Many CEOs, founders or investors pride themselves on their habit of working at full capacity without needing a nap, such as Twitter founder Jack Dorsey, PepsiCo CEO Indra Nooyi and former President Donald Trump. However, Bezos said he is a person with a very regular sleep schedule. He understands that sleep is as important as exercise in general.
Studies also show that healthy sleep is beneficial for cognitive function, mood, mental health, cardiovascular health, brain health and metabolism.
During a conference at the Economic Club in 2018, Bezos revealed that he regularly gets 8 hours of sleep, unless he has to travel across time zones. According to him, this habit helps replenish energy and improve mood.
At a time when his business was wildly successful, Bezos became more aware of the importance of sleep, especially for people who run a lot of human resources and regularly make decisions worth millions of dollars.
If Amazon were still a startup with 100 employees, Bezos admits he might sacrifice his sleep for the sake of growth. However, high profits come with big decisions and higher bets.
In a 2017 study, published in the journal Annals of Neurology, scientists tracked the effects of not getting enough sleep on daily behavior. They concluded that people who sleep less often make wrong money choices. At the beginning of the week, lack of sleep had little effect on the volunteers’ morale. However, as the number of sleepless nights increases, many of them make higher risk decisions.
