Jay-Z looks dapper in classic black tuxedo as he attends Grammys afterparty without his wife Beyonce after they both skipped the awards

He and his wife Beyonce were absent from proceedings at this year’s Grammy Awards show at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Sunday.

But Jay-Z did turn out for a Grammy afterparty at Tao nightclub in West Hollywood that evening, but his other half was no where to be seen.

The rapper, 50, looked dapper as he attended the bash with friends where he wore a black blazer with matching trousers.

He completed his look with a crisp white shirt and a black bow tie as he cut a suave figure when departing the venue at the end of the evening.

Jay and Beyonce, 38, both attended Roc Nation’s pre-Grammy brunch on Saturday as well as the Clive Davis pre-Grammy Gala ahead of the ceremony.

The couple’s absence from the ceremony is not entirely surprising as they did not attend last year’s Grammys either.

Beyoncé was nominated for Best Pop Solo Performance for her song Spirit from The Lion King, however she has skipped awards shows in the past she was nominated at.

The singer has so far only attended the Golden Globes from this year’s award season, where she arrived late after skipping the red carpet.

In an interview with Elle magazine, Beyonce spoke about whether she was disappointed that her album Lemonade didn’t win any of the Grammys most prestigious categories.

The record was nominated for Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Pop Solo Performance, Best Rock Performance, Best Rap/Sung Performance, and Best Music Film.

The album received universal critical acclaim but won only Best Urban Contemporary Album and Best Music Video at the 2017 ceremony.

She said: ‘I began to search for deeper meaning when life began to teach me lessons I didn’t know I needed. Success looks different to me now. I learned that all pain and loss is, in fact, a gift.

‘Having miscarriages taught me that I had to mother myself before I could be a mother to someone else. Then I had Blue, and the quest for my purpose became so much deeper. I died and was reborn in my relationship, and the quest for self-became even stronger.

‘It’s difficult for me to go backwards. Being ‘number one’ was no longer my priority. My true win is creating art and a legacy that will live far beyond me. That’s fulfilling.’

Jay and Beyonce made a showstopping appearance at the Clive Davis bash in Beverly Hills.

The pair looked closer than ever as they shared several sweet moments as they sat together at the event.

At one point the dynamic duo were awarded with a standing ovation as Clive Davis praised them as he took to the stage.

During the event, Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs called out the Grammy Awards for dissing rap and R&B stars in its major categories in a blazing speech that earned him a standing ovation from Beyonce, Jay-Z and several other music industry players.

He said: ‘So I say this with love to the Grammys, because you really need to know this, every year y’all be killing us man. Man, I’m talking about the pain. I’m speaking for all these artists here, the producers, the executives.

‘The amount of time it takes to make these records, to pour your heart into it, and you just want an even playing field.’
