Lewis Hamilton’s demise is attributed by an F1 expert to Mercedes and George Russell, saying that “we would’ve seen a different Lewis [Hamilton].”

Ever since the 2021 season, Lewis Hamilton has suffered nothing but heartbreaks one after the other. This scenario has continued two years into the penultimate race of the 2023 season despite some hope after massive changes. However, the changes Hamilton needs in his life to enjoy his time in F1 need to be much more drastic, according to Peter Windsor.

The F1 veteran, without hesitation, blamed Mercedes and George Russell for the Brit’s miseries. Sure Russell has nothing but phenomenal in the other Mercedes car despite all the setbacks. However, Windsor believes the young Brit’s admission to the team worked as a butterfly effect.

Peter Windsor blames Mercedes and George Russell for the misery of Lewis Hamilton

Life was good for Hamilton when Valtteri Bottas was part of the Brackley-based outfit. The two got along really well. Their inputs were similar, and always helped the team with the modifications and upgrades and there was synergy in the team. Since Russell’s hiring, the synergy has been upset, and Windsor believes this is the reason behind his downward shift in the sport.

“I said it yesterday, I think that is a big handicap for a driver of a Mercedes which is a very unpredictable car at the best of times. You need every lap you can get in that car before the race starts and Lewis never had his confidence in it. He never really got over throughout the race distance and finished P9,” summarised Windsor.

He then expressed his opinion on the matter. “Sad to see from the point of view of the seven-time world champion who we know is a fabulous racing driver. If he was in a Red Bull this year or you know in a different situation maybe with Valtteri in the other car, I think we would’ve seen a different Lewis,“ he expressed.

The ex-boss definitely dragged Russell and Mercedes and put the blame on the team for this state of the seven-time world champion. The world champion agrees as well.

Lewis Hamilton shares a disheartening message after the 2023 Abu Dhabi GP

After Hamilton’s shock Q2 exit, which sparked a lot of criticism from the fans, there was a desperate need to respond to the race. Starting from P11, the team needed a car that would be competitive enough to plow through the field and score as many points as possible. However, despite changing his setup to meet his teammates, the W14 just did not perform.
