Monster: Chelsea make their move to sign £100m Colwill partner

Chelsea make their move to sign “monster” £100m Colwill partner

The 6-foot-5 giant may serve as the Blues’ defensive lineman for the next ten or more years.

Undoubtedly, Chelsea and its supporters had a difficult first half of the 2023–24 season, but after seven games—one loss, one victory, and a trip to the League Cup final—the Blues are in a much better condition this month.

Although Mauricio Pochettino still has a great deal of work ahead of him at Stamford Bridge to make this season one to remember, he has a chance to accomplish it with a few days remaining in the transfer window and Todd Boehly’s ridiculously huge wallet at his disposal.

One of the league’s most exciting young players, the most recent player said to be heading to West London, may prove to be Levi Colwill’s ideal long-term companion.

Chelsea searches up north for more defensive manpower.

Chelsea’made a bid’ for Jarrad Branthwaite, the promising young center-back for Everton, according to Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport.

But the Blues aren’t the only team showing interest in the young Englishman; the article also names Manchester United and Real Madrid as interested parties.

The Toffees are reportedly unwilling to trade their defensive juggernaut until their safety has been guaranteed for the upcoming campaign, despite the Pensioners appearing to be the most involved party in this drama, according to Corriere dello Sport.

It will cost them a fortune whether the west Londoners are able to get their man this month or in the summer, as a report from The I last month stated that Everton had put a £100 million price tag on the player’s head.

Branthwaite might be the ideal Colwill companion.

While that may seem true on paper, Pochettino does not need to sign a new long-term partner for Colwill because he already has Thiago Silva, Axel Disasi, Wesley Fofana, and Benoît Badiashile on the team.

Regardless of how helpful he has been since joining the team, Silva, for instance, will turn 40 before the year ends, which is simply too old to be depended upon in the Premier League. This time around, Fofana is another unreliable center back because of his terrible injury history. Since August 2021, he has missed 118 games for both his club and his country.

Despite being just 25 years old and playing frequently for the team this season, Disasi has fallen short of expectations after joining from AS Monaco. TalkSPORT analyst Andy Jacobs called him a “disaster” earlier in the season.
