Spelman College, the prestigious all-women HBCU in Atlanta, Georgia, is making history once again at its graduation ceremony for the Class of 2023 as it honors four valedictorians
Maya Blasingame, Amaia Calhoun, Sydney DuPree, and Chandler Nutall.
These 4 accomplished young women have excelled in their respective fields, coming from diverse backgrounds and pursuing unique career paths, according to 11Alive.
Maya Blasingame is at the top of her class as a Biology major.
Following graduation, she will be attending medical school with a heartfelt ambition to serve and advocate for underrepresented communities as an aspiring physician.
Amaia Calhoun, an Economics major with a double minor in Spanish and Management & Organization, is another valedictorian who is also Summa Cum Laude.
Subsequently, she will be joining the Ivy League Princeton University’s Investment Company, aiming to focus on the allocation of capital to address the historical exclusion of underrepresented groups, particularly the Black community, from wealth-building activities.
Chandler Nutall leads her class as an English major and has set her sights on a career in law.
After receiving her bachelor’s degree, she plans to complete a fellowship in New York and then attend law school.
