In the video recorded in the Amazon River area, a school of hungry piranhas rushed to nibble at a cow’s head every time the cow’s head was dipped into the water, making viewers stunned. This macabre scene shows the terrifying feeding behavior of the fish known as the “man-eating fish”.

Piranhas and most other fish in the waters of the Amazon are often invisible because the water is very turbid due to being filled with silt and tannin. Therefore, they search for prey by smell or touch.

Most piranha species here feed by approaching their prey and tearing off a piece of meat. The prey can be any species and they can even bite each other. This is one of the bases for filmmakers to create fantasy films that make this species scary in movies, and they are considered a man-eating fish.

But in reality, this fish is not that scary. According to biologist Rountree, piranhas can strip meat from their prey, but “swallowing” a whole live mite is unheard of. This scientist also pointed out that in the dry season, piranha density is concentrated in lake areas, so these places are prone to the “feeding frenzy” phenomenon. But it will not happen that a large animal like a human will be stripped to the bone when entering this lake.
