There are many strange creatures in the world that we may not know about. Among them, there are species that are known as “showing off internal organs” probably because they have a transparent body. Next, let’s take a look at some fish that are as transparent as glass .

1. Glass fish

Glass fish

Glass fish , also known as glass fish, glass catfish (scientific name: Kryptopterus vitreolus) is a species of fish commonly seen in the freshwater aquarium trade. They are transparent because they have no scales and lack pigment in the body. Most internal organs are located near the head. After death, they turn milky white. Glass fish often live in rivers with murky, slow-flowing or calm water.

2. Cyanogaster fish

Cyanogaster fish

Cyanogaster fish  (scientific name: Cyanogaster noctivaga) is a freshwater fish species, endemic to the Rio Nergaro region, Brazil . They have a transparent appearance with a very small blue belly, only a few millimeters long. They usually live in a tributary of the Amazon River and have only a single cone-shaped tooth in their mouth. They were discovered in recent years.

3. Blind Fish

Blind Fish

As the name suggests, this fish has absolutely no eyes. They have an ivory white body where internal organs and blood vessels can be seen, thin, transparent fins, and red gills. Although blind fish cannot see anything, they can accurately locate everything, perhaps by catching the sound waves of surrounding objects.

4. Toothpick Fish

Toothpick Fish

Toothpick fish (English name Candiru or Toothpick fish) is an animal that lives in freshwater. They originate in the Amazon River and are parasites that live in the gills of large fish. They have transparent bodies, only about 3 mm-41 mm long. Because they have such small bodies, when they encounter people swimming in rivers or freshwater lakes, they crawl into the urethra and live there parasitically. They suck blood and cause so much pain that a surgeon must be asked to remove them. This parasitic fish has a rather small head and a belly that can swell after enjoying a full blood meal.

5. Spinytail fish

Spiny fish

This fish, in addition to some colors in the head, has an almost transparent body, even the bones can be seen. With such a transparent body, people can see their internal organs without needing surgery. In fact, the fish pictured above is most likely a tropical spinytail. Many people speculate that these juvenile transparent fish are most likely Acanthurus achilles  .

6.  Pacific drumeye fish

Pacific drumeye fish

Barreleye fish (English name “Barreleye fish” or “Macropinna microstoma”) is found in tropical and temperate waters of the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian Oceans. The shape of the fish is extremely unique with a transparent head that can see through the internal parts. It is known that its eyes have 360-degree vision. At the same time, the blue pigments in its eyes have the ability to filter sunlight from the water surface, helping the fish detect the luminescent light of jellyfish and its food through the transparent shield. When detecting bait, the fish turns its eyes upward and swims up to catch it.

7. Icefish crocodile

Baby icefish crocodile

Icefish crocodiles are known as white-blooded fish with transparent bodies that live in Antarctica and South America. They can still live when the temperature drops below – 1.9 degrees Celsius. The favorite food of this strange crocodile is mollusks…

Adult icefish crocodile

Those are just a few of the thousands of strange creatures in the world. In life nothing is impossible.
