The colorful shrimp with its colorful shell is actually a new species of shrimp with the official scientific name Cherax Pulcher.
With its colorful shell, the multicolored shrimp has long become the perennial “queen” of aquariums around the world. Although it appeared popular in the 2000s, it was not until recently that scientists determined its official name.
Multi -colored shrimp have appeared on the pet market for many years.
German scientist Christian Lukhaup said he had seen the colorful shrimp appear on a photo and in pet stores. However, the seller cannot know exactly where the origin of this shrimp comes from.
Based on clues, Mr. Christian found that the colorful shrimp has a similar shape to the Cherax shrimp species that commonly lives on the New Guinea island of Indonesia and Australia. So he went to West Papua province on the island of New Guinea to learn about the local people. Finally, the scientist found this beautiful shrimp in a small canal.
Research results show that this is a completely new species of shrimp. With such a beautiful appearance, Mr. Christian named them Cherax Pulcher shrimp, where the word “pulcher” means beautiful in Latin.
With the current situation of hunting for sale and environmental pollution, Mr. Christian fears that the Cherax Pulcher shrimp will soon become extinct. According to him, currently nearly 50% of the world’s shrimp are experiencing a dangerous situation.
The 3-color shell set of blue, purple and pink is very eye-catching.
Their official scientific name is Cherax Pulcher.
