‘Unicorn’ dog Strawberry, a 2-year-old pit bull mix, almost fell asleep due to a bump on the head, but has since found a loving home.
Strawberry was saved from euthanasia by the La Belle foundation, a Los Angeles-based animal rescue organization, according to an Instagram post from April 2022. “Her skin was bright pink from the infection, covered in mange, and she had 2 large lumps on the head,” the post said.
Strawberry has earned the nickname “unicorn dog.” Thanks to Kristen Kuhlman
After seeing Strawberry Online’s updates, South Pasadena, California mom Kristen Kuhlman told tODAY.com she knew she had to adopt him.
He was always available and I kept seeing his photo appear on the foundation’s Instagram page. He had never seen a dog like her before, and she had such kind eyes, Kuhlman said. “She is one in a million, one of a kind, and very distinctive and recognizable.”
“I’ve always joked that I like dogs that are blind or have only three legs,” Kuhlman said. I prefer to acquire animals that fit this description. So strawberry seemed like a good choice for our family for some reason.
Kuhlman is a married mother of twins. Strawberry struggled to acclimate to her new surroundings when Kuhlman brought her home in September 2022, according to the woman.
“Strawberry has been through a lot in her life,” he commented.
Strawberry was worried at first and “didn’t know what was happening” because she had moved around so much. Strawberry was “like crying” at night, according to Kuhlman, who also noticed it.
“Oh no, what did we get ourselves into,” we all thought, he recalled. “But wow, in a matter of weeks he came out of his shell and became the most adorable dog. My relatives love it.
